Adrian Lever
Adrian Lever is a guitarist with award winning folk and early music experimentalists Horses Brawl who have been touring their mix of re-composed folk and early tunes from all over Europe at UK festivals and Arts centres for the last 6 years. Their 4th album is due for release in june 2011.
He has also delved into the world of flamenco, playing steel-string guitar alongside leading British guitarist and composer Steve Homes culminating in a duo performance at Lewes Guitar Festival 2004.
Various collaborations have occurred over the years, but a mainstay has been Appalachian roots band ‘Acaysha‘ who have recorded two albums with the legendary pedal steel player B.J. Cole wearing the combined caps of producer and performer. Acaysha continue to write songs and gig in their native East Anglia after 15 years together. Adrian has also appeared as a session guitarist on a project with Acaysha singer ‘Mexeena‘.
Over the last few years Adrian’s obsession with the wonky rhythms of east has taken him on bus trips to Bulgaria to learn tamboura (8-string long-necked lute). There he encountered the tamboura-playing phenomenon and all-round very nice guy Vladimir Vladimirov who set about teaching him the in’s and out’s of traditional ornamentation and improvisation. Since then Adrian has been busy writing horos and gigging on tamboura, and most recently has become part of the Arhai project collaborating with UK – based Serbian singer and composer Jovana Backovic.
